Mahina Kai is located in Hawaii Kai, a resort-style community in eastern Honolulu on the south shore of O'ahu. It is approximately 30 minutes (17 miles) away from Honolulu International Airport.
You can avoid the tourist crowds of Waikiki, but make the quick trip into town if desired. Restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores are just down the hill, 1 mile away. World-famous attractions like Sandy Beach, Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, and Koko Head Crater are within a 10-minute drive.
The state of Hawaii requires minimum rental periods depending on a property's location. For Mahina Kai, the minimum rental period is 30 days and you will have exclusive use during this time. Come and stay awhile, to rest and recharge.
While we are unable to prorate if you plan to stay less than 30 days, renting Mahina Kai often provides much better value at a lower cost than staying at a hotel -- particularly for multi-family or group travel. Plus, you'll have the place all to yourself!
While Mahina Kai is close to many amenities, we do recommend having a car rental for flexible transportation to explore everything the island has to offer. The 4-car garage provides ample covered parking for multiple vehicles.
Don't miss our favorite scenic drive wrapping around the south shore of O'ahu and ending on the windward side. Start your journey at Mahina Kai, stop for a hike by Makapu'u Lighthouse, grab a plate lunch in Waimanalo Beach, and end the day browsing Kailua town.
You can book directly through this link. Mahina Kai is professionally managed by Gather/Elite Vacation Rentals, a company that specializes in luxury vacation home experiences. Feel free to contact them directly if you have any additional questions or need further assistance planning your stay.
We look forward to hosting your next island getaway!
The name "Mahina Kai" loosely translates to "month by the sea", a nod to the relaxed timeframe guests can stay to rejuvenate their mind, body, and soul -- thanks to the healing properties of Hawaiian surf and sand. Read more about the scientific effects of the beach on your brain.
